Even though the Daily Mail reported the daughter's age as five months old, I think that may be incorrect. If you look at the second-to-last photo, there is a child who may be his daughter held by someone who may be his wife. Whoever that kid is, she's older than five months.

Shoulda had one of these!

found this from someone who did some digging. 15 were arrested. 55 bikes were impounded. RR driver called the cops on them for wreckless driving. They didn't like that and brake checked him. They probably had scanners on them too...

EDIT: never mind, the headline made it sound like the baby was killed, but apparently not

... doesn't manslaughter involve... someone dying? Accidentally?

whoops it read like the baby was killed

Jeez, I hate it when stuff like that goes viral. They ride like idiots with no concern for traffic/road rules and the rest of us riders get frowned upon by the general public. Given the circumstances, I would have done the same thing.

Did someone get killed? If not, I think assault might be the best you can get.

Not quite. The first hit rider got a broken leg, but thanks for the tip on the name.

I see that now. "Was only 5 months old" implies death. I'm just glad nobody died, YES, even the bikers (whom I perceive to be more-but-not-entirely at fault here).

I'd suggest changing the title to "Child Is," not "Child Was."

Hopefully the idiot squid learnt his leason. Probably not though, I'd bet money he tries to sue.

I didn't know you could edit OP's! It never let me do that! :O
But yeah, at first I did mistake it for looking like the baby was killed.
Glad you fixed it

Why do I feel so bad for the Lien?

OH I SEE, it's because he wasn't remotly at fault! Wow, sad.

I changed the whole title because even though the news reported her age as five months old, I think that may be incorrect. If you look at the second-to-last photo, there is a child who may be his daughter held by someone who may be his wife. Whoever that kid is, she's older than five months.

And Gawker say we have a group to blame
UPDATE: According to Commissioner Ray Kelly, the NYPD was monitoring the ride , which Kelly said was organized by biker group Hollywood Stuntz .

Agreed. This makes ALL riders look bad, and the masses have yet another reason to dislike them and support laws against the hobby.

eff that I would of gunned the RR too. ESPECIALLY if i have my family in the car. Motocycle riders think they are so cool. This group looked like the epitome of riders

This looks like a bunch of buttheads all around. Why would you not pull over if you are surrounded by bikers and let them go on? Especially if you have your family in your car? Was he trying to prove something? Really poor judgement is what it proves.

Because they were trying to force him off the road in a very thugish manner. . . Let's see you pull over when a biker brake checks you for no reason other to threaten you and your families well being.

I'm torn here. The article has sensationalist leans, as most modern journalism has, sadly. Pictures of the guy and his family dressed like upstanding upper class people, pictures of the beat up door, but no photos of the damage to the motorcycles, or the leg that had a 4k+ pound SUV run over it. Instead, there is just one photo of one rider making him look like a degenerate.
If the guy hit a car, he would legally be at fault. He followed too close, kept his speed too high given the amount of traffic surrounding him, etc. As a driver, my instincts should I be surrounded by a pack of motorcycles would be to yield and be alert. And after the accident happened, there was exactly 23 seconds from the time of the first collision - not the time he stopped - the time of the collision - to the time he started ramming motorcycles with a blatant disregard to human life. And, immediately after, he drives reckless in his getaway, speeding and running red lights which could easily have hurt more innocent people. But despite this, the news article tries to make us feel apologetic for the guy and disregard his actions because he had a two year old daughter in the car. So **** him. And if he was really faultless and acting entirely because he was scared for his life, why have the doors unlocked at 5:05 in the video?
But, the motorcyclists were riding in a complete reckless way. And, instead of letting the police handle the situation, they overreacted with vigilante justice. So, all of them are guilty of crimes and should be punished accordingly. Let's not bias certain crimes over others based on social status and media likability.

Well, it ended up not being entirely "wreckless" :P

Road's aren't meant only for motorcyclist. Any other vehicle has the same rights to that road. Unless motorcyclist are special??? I dunno maybe they were special and didn't need to obey the law. The more I think about it ... Yes I believe the motorcyclist were special kids.

And the biker deserved every bit of it. Endangering the welfare of a child? He ought to be dead.

The RR guys was in the right. I would have ran all those bikers over to protect my family and my self. They boxes him in first thinking they own the road. They asked for it. And then want to get mad when a car dumps them, come on! Lame bikers! The RR guys should have backed over all of them.

I agree!!

pull over!? are you kidding??! you have a baby and pull over for gang thugs?! think twice yo! my first instinct is to run and get the hell away from them to protect my family! Poor Alexian! i hope he is doing well!
![]() 10/02/2013 at 19:34 |

well actually there is a photo on the biker who got ran over! pls check the news today! just out! there are also plenty of photos on injured biker also a video on his "crying" mother....
i am still rooting for RR guy...
the car door obviously was locked...have you driven a range rover before? halooo auto lock?! unless the driver unlocks it for particular reason..
the media zooms in on alexian becoz the video itself, which was taken by the biker/helmet camera..
if you pay attention..the biker should not playing wheelies infront of a car! You know this is wrong! this biker had swerved in and SLOWED down?!! infront of a car? do you have a death wish?!
you should re-watch video! i dont think alexian disregarding human life...he is in a situation where he has to CHOOSE between his daughter's life/family or STUPID bikers? halooo...the answer is clear!
I wish Alexian is doing well! poor little girl...must've been so traumatised!

Agree with you! these bikers are cruel, stupid and REALLY need to get a JOB!!

Again, not defending the bikers. They deserve to be arrested. But the driver's actions showed a blatant disregard for human life, including his daughter's. Your response shows that you're easily influenced by media bias, and that is sad.
